ABOUT THE WPAA:

World Physique & Athletic Association is an Arizona based organization.  We are dedicated to offering an amazing event that is less restrictive than competing in other organizations.  There are no membership cards or fees.  Any athlete of any sport  can compete in our shows without jeopardizing their standings in other organizations.   The WPAA believes you, as an amateur athlete, shouldn't  feel bound to compete only for one organization, nor do we believe you should be unless you are being paid to do so.  WPAA was born by competitors who put a real value on their contest prep, and wanted more from their competitions.  Competition should be fun and rewarding for the athlete and not restrictive as to where you can compete.  There are several more WPAA shows coming in 2015, and in different states.  Competitors will enjoy the differences the WPAA offers.  We offer all  classes: bodybuilding, fitness, physique, and bikini.  There are some large differences we offer to competitors.  There are two  large differing competition classes for male and female bodybuilders, and changes to the men's physique including new physique pose and physique competition wear .  You won't find either in any other shows!   It will all start  at the Rusty Jeffers Southwest Championships on April 11, 2015. Get in on this historic event!  THIS IS A GAME CHANGER!

We are offering MENS CLASSIC BODYBUILDING AND WOMENS CLASSIC BODYBUILDING!

MENS "CLASSIC" BODYBUILDING  --  3 Additional Mandatory Poses

This class is for those athletes who know bodybuilding could be more competitive and know they have more to offer than just the usual eight mandatory poses.  Classic bodybuilding has the same mandatory poses as regular bodybuilding; however, there is the additional judging criteria of three additional mandatory poses.  The posing round will be  1/3 of your score.  The three new poses for the men are as follows:

The  "Victory" Pose                            The  Angled Twisting Back Pose                           The Vacuum Pose

Rusty will be offering three free posing seminars well before the show where he will demonstrate the correct way to perform the new mandatory poses. He will also answer questions about the show and  it will also be free.   (See posing instruction for group or private sessions which include all poses)

WOMENS "CLASSIC" BODYBUILDING

This class is going to be extremely competitive!  It is going to be for women who are typically placed three different categories.  Figure competitors who have always wanted to do more than quarter turns and show the muscle they have, Physique competitors who don't like the restrictiveness of not being able to do what bodybuilders used to be able to do, and regular female bodybuilders who may have never been big enough or ripped enough.   Confused? Don't be.  This class is open to any woman who wants to be able to compete freely and pose as they want.  Standard bodybuilding poses apply; however, if you want to do a side chest pose "physique" style or standard bodybuilding style, its her choice.  Open hands or closed?  Her choice.  Ultra ripped or super muscular? Not the ultimate deciding factor.  Here's the difference in how its going to be judged.  We are looking for the "classic" physique.  The winners of this class should have the best combination of muscle size, definition, shape, symmetry and most of all, BALANCE.  She will pose or display herself to her best.  The biggest may or may not be the winner that day, same as the leanest may or may not  be the winner.  THE WINNER WILL BE THE BEST OVERALL PHYSIQUE ONSTAGE ON THAT DAY WILL WIN.  Think Cory Everson style of physique.   Great combination of all aspects of bodybuilding.  Bring your best physique on this day!

THE WPAA JUDGES WERE HAND PICKED FOR WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY STAND FOR

I have a very strong opinion about judges at contests and its shared by a lot of people out there.

This in no way is about any other organizational, personal, or political views but is my OWN opinion.

Judging, to me, means being scored by people who have  been onstage for a period of years with success and having a clear and personal experience of what it takes to judge another's physique on a personal level.  That means turning pro in any organization, or competing at the national level with some level of success.  Judges who have proven over the years to not be biased, with clear intent on how physiques should be. A balance of all criteria, being size, balance, symmetry, condition, and stage presentation will be judged by people who have experience over the years in all of these listed above.   There are many qualified people in town with these qualifications and many are good friends but they may not be asked to judge.  Why? Because of the possibility of being biased.  My first show I want all competitors to be able to feel fairly assessed and walk away knowing it was from an experienced panel of their peers.

Over the past 10 to 15 years, judging has gotten so far away from what made bodybuilding great.  It was exciting to watch, popular and aesthetically pleasing to look at.  It appears what is being judged (at all levels of competition) is only about either size or extreme conditioning.  The actual physique itself doesn't even seem to matter.  The judges we have for this show were hand picked as they had turned pro, had competed for years at the national level and gotten close, but know what a great physique is all about and what a physique should be judged on.  A few used to consistently judge years ago and still believe when the combination of size, definition, muscle shape and balance were what a superior physque was all about.  This is how "Classic Bodybuilding" was born, by people who know and love the sport of bodybuilding.   My wish is that not one competitor will walk away from my show and think the judging was by anyone who hadn't BEEN there, DONE that.

MENS COMPLETE PHYSIQUE

The mens physique will be judged for the same criteria as before, but with a different twist.   No more big, baggy long shorts that  cover up half of their physiques.  These men will wear form fitting shorts that showcase the entire leg and therefore the "Complete Physique".  They may be any color, but they may not be baggy or hide the body.  The entire physique will be evaluated for overall shape, balance, and symmetry.  They may be purchased locally at Bilbo Baggs.  A similar type of short will be allowed as this is the first show.  It can be half thigh, mid thigh, or 3/4 thigh, it is your preference, but may not cover up the entire leg.

Men's physique athletes will also be able to display sponsors of their choice on their posing shorts.  This is a money making idea that is for the athlete only, not the organization or promoter.  This is something we have put together in conjunction with Bilbo Baggs who will affix them to their shorts.   In no way will the sponsors, or lack of determine any judging of any competitor.

This is a game changer!!!

I want to make something completely clear to anyone who wants to enter this show and was told they should not as it could hurt their standing in other organizations.

You as an amateur athlete can compete successfully in ANY organization, any contest, or any other show until you turn professional.  There is NO WAY that you can be faulted, disqualified, disregarded, or should feel intimidated by any other bodybuilding, figure, fitness or bikini trainer, person or organization.  No amateur organization will turn away you as a competitor or will judge you in an unfavorable way if you compete in a different organization.  This is something that was brought to my attention by some very ill informed trainers who were trying to keep their competitors away as they thought it would "hurt their standings"  This is untrue, unsubstantiated, and is pure drama.  HERE'S A FACT -  Competitors who have recently won in the WPAA, then won in the other local shows shortly thereafter.   I have spoken to other local promotors, these are people I've known for YEARS.  This is drama on the part of some ill informed people.  Don't let anyone ruin your fun of competing!!!!  I thought I'd set this issue straight right here, right now.

The WPAA was founded by competitors who wanted to do something different in offering new classes for competitors like classic bodybuilding, and something different for the athletes to compete in.   THIS HAS BEEN AND WILL BE THE MOST REWARDING COMPETITION AVAILABLE TO AMATEUR ATHLETES.
